Rare set of three very heavy candlesticks in solid art glass, probably designed by Christel and Christer Holmgren / Holmgren Design.
The candlesticks are made in three sizes with clear and frosted glass. Around the sturdy bowls, there is a characteristic decoration of captured air bubbles in various sizes.
A similar set is depicted in Næstved Kunstforening's publication in connection with an exhibition about Christel and Christer Holmgren. I have not been able to find other examples of this model.
Christer Holmgren was a Swedish designer and worked, among others, at the Swedish glassworks Orrefors and Reijmyre before becoming a designer at Holmegaard Glassworks. Christel Holmgren also worked for Holmegaard. After their time at Holmegaard, the couple established their joint design firm Holmgren Design in Næstved in 1971.
As the candlesticks are not signed and I have not found an original production reference, they are sold as probable design by Christel and Christer Holmgren / Holmgren Design and not as documented Holmegaard production.
