Vintage jewelry dish in crazed faience with rose decor and pomegranates - mid-century

Beautiful and decorative vintage jewelry tray or small trinket dish in glazed earthenware with elegant crackled glaze (craquelé) and romantic rose decor.

The dish is made in a warm ivory white shade with hand-decorated red and pink roses. The two three-dimensional pomegranates, also decorated with rose motifs, give the dish a particularly decorative and charming expression. The pomegranate has throughout history been a classic decorative motif and a symbol of abundance and fertility.

The back has an embossed stamp, but the manufacturer could not be identified.

Stylistically, the dish is estimated to have been produced in Europe around the mid-20th century, but it was found in Canada in an antique store and may have been sold as an import to the North American market.

Condition:
Appears in beautiful vintage condition with age-related crackling in the glaze, which is part of the manufacturing process. No visible chips or cracks.
